If you walk at that wall you may notice that you have become a wizard and can walk right through the still active blocks in front of the slopes, but not when you try walking back in from the outside. First off, put up a 2 block thick wall at each end of that path under your house, no door will be necessary there anymore! Now hammer the inner blocks until they are slopes facing how they are in that screenshot, then wire up some actuators on those slopes and make them into inactive blocks instead, remove the actuators and wire from the slopes. You see how on the ends of the house there's a solid wall on the outside and a bunch of slopes right behind that? That stuff is way more useful than it looks lemme tell ya. Ĭhances are that lots of you don't yet know about the magic of Hoiks, well sit back and learn the most basic and only actually necessary thing about them you need to know. This part is meant for after you manage to find the Mechanic NPC. Also I would advise making more room in your farm than I had since you'll need more Waterleaf than one row will produce, trust me. Housing UpgradesĪs soon as you can I would recommend making an herb farm. While you can make one with clay pots, they are much more efficient with Planter boxes since they function as platforms and don't need a block under them, as shown here. Don't put pointless banners up though, if you really want them up then make a room or two somewhere specifically for them. The path under the house is meant for storing Banners, which will make defending yourself much easier while you're there. Your crafting stations can be in a small room under the path below your housing to, it doesn't really matter where they are so long as they aren't in the path. Also, this design can be a bit wood intensive so worry about the back walls after you've got the frame set up. Now of course Demon Eyes are still a giant nuisance unless you put some wood and a door there, so I'd recommend doing that. So by doing this you're already saving yourself lots of trouble. Now, the reason for doing this is that YOU CAN get into your house, but annoying monsters CAN'T. You can in fact still get into your house by jumping against the edge of the block at the end of those platforms, don't ask me how that works but it does. (dirt blocks are there to show it's 7 blocks up). BUT WAIT! Don't build just any house! Build the first floor 7 blocks off the ground, like this Are you getting shrekt by expert mode? Well look no further because with the help of this guide, all (or at least some) of your troubles will be ogre! Early Housingįirst off, cut down some trees with that toothpick disguised as an axe and build a house as usual.
